Savoia di Lucania is not only a place of rich rural heritage. It also possesses cultural elements such as the museum dedicated to Giovanni Passannante and the Fascist twentieth century. This structure was created thanks to Vittorio Vernotico, a local collector who collected historical objects from the period in question. Vernotico’s collection contains more than forty thousand period pieces. Along the museum tour, one can admire memorabilia, portraits, busts, historical photographs, uniforms, medals, stamps, objects of everyday life from the fascist period, documents and much more. The museum also has a section dedicated to Giovanni Passannante. In this space it is possible to consult the trial documents, the anarchist’s writings and watch a documentary film that reconstructs the life of the young Passannante, the attempt on the King and the sad fate that was reserved for the rebel.
